Gresham Butte Neighborhood Association will host a tree planting on Saturday, March 16, at 1:00 p.m. just down from the start of the Saddle Trail on SE 15th St. which is in the Dawncrest Neighborhood off of Regner Rd.  We have 400 bare root trees to plant in an area where invasive blackberries have been cut.  Volunteers need to have sturdy shoes or boots and gloves as there are lots of thorny canes on the ground to work around.  The weather should be great for planting.    Bring water or a refreshment to drink and a shovel.  It would be great if some want to dig blackberry crowns to help stem their regrowth as well.  A mattock or wide adze would work well for this type of work.  We will plant hemlock, grand fir, Douglas fir, cedar, ponderosa pine, cascara and ocean spray based on where each variety will tend to do well.  In addition to wear’in of the green on the 17th help plant some green on the 16!
